Fine pieces deserve to be kept.

Luxury isn't only in the making. It's in the keeping. The right care keeps a piece looking the way it did the first time you wore it, for years rather than seasons.

The Golden Rules

  1. Wear, then rest. Give a piece a day between wears so it recovers its shape.
  2. Clean less, air more. Over-cleaning ages fabric faster than wearing it. Air a piece overnight before you consider cleaning it.
  3. Treat marks immediately, but never rub. Blot gently and take it to a professional.
  4. Perfume and makeup go on first. Let them settle before you dress.
  5. Always follow the care label. It's written for that exact piece.

How to Store Your Wardrobe

  • Hang tailoring, dresses and coats on broad, shaped hangers. Wire hangers distort shoulders.
  • Fold knitwear, never hang it, or it will stretch.
  • Use breathable cotton garment bags, never plastic.
  • Keep everything away from sunlight and heat.
  • Give pieces space. A crowded wardrobe creases and crushes.
  • Store structured accessories flat or in their box.

By Piece

Tailoring. Empty the pockets, brush after wearing, and steam rather than iron. Dry clean once or twice a season at most.

Dresses and skirts. Hang by the shoulders or loops, steam out creases, and check the lining as well as the outside before cleaning.

Knitwear. Fold, rest between wears, and remove pilling gently with a cashmere comb. Store with cedar to protect against moths.

Coats and outerwear. Hang with room to breathe. If a coat gets wet, let it dry naturally at room temperature, away from heat.

Accessories. Store in their dust bags or boxes, keep them away from perfume and moisture, and handle them with clean hands.

By Fabric

Fabric Care
Wool and cashmere Brush, air, and dry clean sparingly. Store folded with cedar.
Cotton Follow the label. Structured or lined pieces should be dry cleaned.
Linen Steam; creasing is part of its charm.
Silk Dry clean only. Steam lightly and keep away from water and perfume.
Leather Condition occasionally and keep away from heat and direct sun.
Fur Never iron or steam. Have it cleaned by a furrier once a year, and use cool storage over summer.

Questions

Can I wash my Anatier piece at home?
Only if the care label says so. Most of our pieces have linings and structure that professional cleaning protects best.

How often should I dry clean?
Only when a piece genuinely needs it. Airing and brushing between wears is usually enough.
